GA Aquarium / Akvarium v Atlante

Sunny organised an Aquarium trip recently. Jessica and Samuel, Emily and Owen (Sunny's college roommate and her son), Sarah and Lilly and Lucy (Emily's sis-in-law and nieces), plus Magdalena and I went. We all loved our watery tour - kids and adults alike!

Sunny zorganizovala vylet do akvaria. Jessica a Samuel, Emily a Owen (Spolubydlici ze skoly od Sunny a jeji syn), Sarah a Lilly a Lucy(teta od Emily a neter) a plus Magdalenka s mamimkou. Vsichni jsme byli nadseni z naseho vyletu - deti i dospeli stejne!
When I was a tiny thing, my favorite song was "Baby Beluga" about the whales pictured below. These creatures still hold a certain spell on me. Quick fact: Beluga whales got their name from the Russian word for "white."
Poznamka: Velryba Beluga dostala jmeno z Ruskeho slova - "bily".
Recently, Magdalena has watched a lot of "Surf's Up" so when she saw the penguins she could not contain her excitement! My camera chose this time to start acting up and pretty much took only blurry pics, but here is a taste of Magdalena's glee.
Just watching the fish swim by...
and overhead! We walked through a tunnel under one of the tanks. It was so amazing to see sharks, fish, and whales drifting by just above our heads and on either side of us.
a nad hlavou! Sli jsme skze tunel, ktery byl obklopen vodou a byl pod jednou z vodnich nadrzi. Bylo to opravdu nadherne videt zraloky, ruzne ryby a velryby plavat nad nama nebo vedle nas.

Stepping outside into the sun was quite a shock after being inside and surrounded by aquatic shadows, but it was nice to catch some fresh air.

Chattanooga: Day 3 / 3.den

We ended our Chattanooga holiday by visiting the Children's Discovery Museum. It's first exhibit was a riverboat adventure. Magdalena took to the water like the fish she saw at the aquarium the previous day and would have nothing to do with the provided rain jacket or goulashes - and, of course, ended up soaking wet!

Zakoncili jsme nasi dovolenou v detskem muzeum kreativity.
Wandering through the maze of tunnels and ropes proved to be great fun for all three of us! Magdalena gained so much confidence climbing that jungle that now she's all over any play area or inflatable.
There were rooms dedicated to each type of musical instrument, which made Magdalena very pleased. She especially liked the harp, piano, and drums.
Byla tady jedna mistnost urcena pro kazdy typ hudebniho nastroje - Magdalenka si to opravdu uzivala. Specialne se ji libila harfa, piano a bubny.
Petr and Magdalena got a taste of being archeologists by digging in some sand to find dino bones. Magda's wet clothes mixed with sand made one very unpleasant mess! It took days to get rid of all the sand from her sandals!
The final exhibit was all about Clifford the Big Red Dog! Our munchkin hasn't ever read any of his books, but she appreciates a good time with furry critters. So, she enjoyed Clifford's world too.
Her all time favorite activity in the museum was placing bones on a conveyor belt to Clifford's dog bowl. She and a couple of other kids played with that contraption for about 15 minutes.
Jeji oblibene cinnosti v muzeum nosit psi kosticky na posuvny pas, ktery kosticky dopravil do psi misky. Hrala si ostatnima detma asi po dobu 15minut.
After leaving the museum, we headed on down to Georgia. We stopped a couple of times along the way home - once to eat at McDonald's and once to visit Barnsley Gardens.
Po odchodu z muzea jsme meli namirenou cestu zpet do Georgia. Zastavili jsme parkrat na ceste domu - Mc Donald zastavka prvni a druha navsteva zahrad (Barnsley Garden).
Petr and Magdalena had never been there before and I hadn't been there since I was a young teen. A lot has changed in those 10-12 years! An entire village has been constructed on the grounds surrounding the original mansion's ruins and gardens.
Petr s Magdalenkou tady nikdy nebyli a Rebeka tady byla kdyz byla v letech teen. Hodne se zmenilo za 10 -12 let! Cela vesnice byla vybudovana kolem originalni zriceniny panskeho sidla a zahrady.
Magdalena took advantage of the wide open spaces and long straight sidewalks to run and run and run!!
Magdalenka nevahala prilezitosti velkeho prostoru a dlouhych chodniku - utikat a utikat!!!
Then I took advantage of her short lived exhaustion to grab some snuggle time on a hammock while Petr went to the car after the stroller.
Here are the lovely ruins and a piece of the gardens. I had hoped to purchase a green rose from the garden shop, but, alas, they were all sold out! Green roses are one of Barnsley Gardens' trademarks.
Tady muzete videt zriceninu a kousek zahrady. Zelene ruze jsou jednou z obchodnich znamek teto zahrady.
Finally, confined to one place, Magdalena fell asleep in the car on the way to our family Memorial Day gathering. She was so tuckered out from all the fun and adventuring!
Nakonec pripoutani k jednomu mistu, Magdalenka usla na ceste v aute. Byla utahana z celeho naseho dobrodruzstvi!

Chattanooga: Day 2 / 2.den

Thanks to our ever-present alarm clock, lovingly called Magdalena, we all awoke bright and early Sunday morning! By 8 we were ready to hit the road but the Aquarium isn't a "morning person" so we thought we'd check out the riverwalk at the Chickamaga Dam.

After a refreshing walk beside poisoned waters (signs said that the fish caught there should only be consumed once a month by non-nursing or pregnant adults), we headed on over to see some healthy fish. We got to pet some manarays and little sharks!
At first, Magdalena didn't seem interested in the butterflies in their garden, but when one was on my finger she quickly became fascinated!
The jellyfish we definitely not a hit with the munchkin. She ran past them as fast as possible. When Petr took her back in arms for a closer (and slower) look, she squirmed and said "no" multiple times...maybe next time.
Meduzy nepatrily do zebricku pozornosti nasi holcicky, ona vedle nich probehla rychle jak dokazala.
The huge sharks in the giant tank caught and held her attention for a long time! Magdalena excitedly ran up and down the path by the tank to see as many of the sharks as possible and sat quietly, listening intently during the diving show.
Guess no matter what your age, that sense of wonder at God's creation (whether in nature or captivity) never ceases. We all thoroughly relished our non-wet, watery adventure.
Nezalezi jakeho jste veku, obdiv nad Bozim stvorenim nikdy neprestane. Vsichni jsme si uzili nemokreho vodniho dobrodruzstvi.

Coolige Park

Eloise and Lillian wanted to ride the carousel at the park, but Magdalena preferred the "shower." So, we started out tentatively walking around the fountains, weaving in and out of the children playing. In a few minutes, though, Magdalena was much bolder and ran through and over the fountain showers when the bursts of water were small.
Here's the wet Magda with her kitty and friends, Eloise and Lillian, just as we were all saying our good-byes. Since this fun day Magdalena and I have had more fun with our friends at Pathway bookstore. Coffee anyone?

Chattanooga: Day 1 / 1.den

Here's the results of our little photo shoot outside the restaurant after our meal. The sun was really bright that day!                                                                                                                                    Tady je vysledek naseho spolecneho fota pred restauraci, potom co jsme poobedvali. Slunicko bylo opravdu hodne zarici!
After lunch we met up with our fellow Prague missionary friends, the Stone family, to explore the Chatty Zoo. It was so small that we walked through the whole thing in about 45 mins.
That didn't detour us from regaling stories of what we've been up to since moving to the States, chasing the girls as they giggled their way from one animal to another, or elongating our visit.
We merely continued our time together at Coolige Park and Clumpy's Ice Cream Shop!                 Potom jsme spolecne sli do parku (Coolidge Park) a do cukrarny!
